MICROOLED designs and develops high-performance microdisplays for near-to-eye applications. The company’s core offering consists of highly integrated microdisplays for use in video glasses for mobile HDTV and 3D, viewfinders for cameras, night vision systems, endoscopes, and other applications. MICROOLED is uniquely positioned for these markets by providing microdisplays with the worldwide highest pixel density, lowest power consumption, and a widely recognised outstanding image quality.
Founded in 2007, MICROOLED is a privately-owned company whose headquarters and R&D centre are located in Grenoble, France, a renowned centre of excellence for chipset and nanotechnology development. In order to satisfy the growing demand, MICROOLED invested in 2011 over 5M€ into a microdisplay front-end manufacturing line located in the Minatech MEMS200 facilities in Grenoble, France.
Between 2013 and 2014, Microoled manufactured over 160 000 microdisplay modules for different products, among others a mirrorless digital system camera, head mounted displays, night vision systems, and for medical applications. Microoled recently received the the Ernst & Young Award “Entrepreneur of the year” for the region Rhone-Alpes/ Auvergne, France.
